SUMMARY:St. Simeon the Myrrhgusher - Св. Симеон Мироточиви
DESCRIPTION:THE VENERABLE SIMEON THE MYRRH-GUSHER – STEFAN NEMANJA\n \nStefan Nemanja [Nehemiah]\, the great ruler [Great Zupan] of the Serbian people\, the consolidator of the Serbian lands\, creator of the independent Serbian state\, defender of Orthodoxy and eradicator of heresy\, was first baptized in the Latin Church\, but later he left it and entered the Orthodox Church. In the beginning he was dependent on the Greeks with regard to the state\, but later he freed himself from this dependence and became completely autonomous. After Stefan had strengthened the state and the Orthodox Faith in the state\, he followed the example of his son Sava. He received the monastic tonsure in Studenica Monastery in the year 1195 A.D.\, receiving the name Simeon. His wife Anna withdrew to a women’s monastery\, embraced the monastic tonsure and received the name Anastasija. After two years as a monk in Studenica\, Simeon traveled to Athos\, the Holy Mountain. There he took up residence in the Monastery of Vatopedi together with his son Sava. Father and son spend their days and nights in prayer. There they built six chapels: to the Savior\, the Unmercenary Saints\, St. George\, St. Theodore\, St. John the Forerunner and St. Nicholas. They purchased the ruins of Hilandar and erected a glorious monastery\, in which Simeon lived only eight months and then died. When Simeon was on his deathbed\, Sava\, according to his father’s wishes\, placed him on a simple mat. With eyes directed toward the icon of the Mother of God with the Savior\, the blessed elder spoke these last words\, Let everything that has breath praise the Lord (Psalm 150:6)\, and took up his habitation with the Lord\, on February 13\, 1200 A.D. \n+++ \nПРЕПОДОБНИ СИМЕОН МИРОТОЧИВИ – СТЕФАН НЕМАЊА \nВелики владалац српског народа\, ујединитељ српских земаља\, творац независне српске државе\, бранитељ Православља\, истребитељ јереси. Најпре био крштен у латинској цркви\, но доцније ослободи се од те цркве и постане члан цркве православне. Најпре зависио у државном погледу од Грка\, но доцније ослободио се те зависности и постао потпуно самосталан. Када је утврдио државу\, и веру православну у држави\, тада\, по примеру свога сина Саве\, прими монашки чин у манастиру Студеници 1195. године и добије име Симеон. Жена његова Ана такође прими монашки чин\, добије име Анастасија и повуче се у женски манастир. После две године иночества у Студеници Симеон оде у Свету Гору. Ту се настани најпре у манастиру Ватопеду\, заједно са Савом. Отац и син проводили су дане и ноћи у молитви. Ту су саградили шест параклиса: Спаситељу\, Бесребреницима\, светом Георгију\, светом Теодору\, Претечи и светом Николају. Купе рушевине Хиландара и саграде диван манастир\, у коме Симеон поживи само осам месеци па сконча. Кад је био на издисају\, Сава га\, по његовој жељи\, положи на просту рогозину. Са очима управљеним у икону Богоматере и Спаситеља блажени старац изусти ове речи: „Всјакоје диханије да хвалит Господа!“ И пресели се ка Господу 13. фебруара 1200. године.

DESCRIPTION:THE ANNUNCIATION \nWhen the All-holy Virgin had completed the fourteenth year after her birth and was entering her fifteenth year\, after having spent eleven years of living and serving in the Temple of Jerusalem\, the priests informed her that\, according to the Law\, she could not remain in the Temple but was required to be betrothed and enter into marriage. To the great surprise of the priests\, the All-holy Virgin answered that she had dedicated her life to God and that she desired to remain a virgin until death\, not wanting to enter into marriage with anyone! Then according to God’s providence and inspiration\, Zacharias\, the high priest and father of the Forerunner\, in agreement with the other priests\, gathered twelve unmarried men from the tribe of David\, so that they might entrust the Virgin Mary to one of them to preserve her virginity and care for her. She was entrusted to Joseph of Nazareth\, who was her kinsman. In the house of Joseph\, the All-holy Virgin continued to live as she did in the Temple of Solomon\, occupying her time in the reading of sacred Scripture\, in prayer\, in godly thoughts\, in fasting\, and in handiwork. She rarely went anywhere outside the house and was uninterested in worldly matters and events. She spoke very little to anyone\, if at all\, and never without special need. She most often associated with Joseph’s two daughters. When the fullness of time had come\, as prophesied by Daniel the Prophet\, and when God was pleased to fulfill His promise to the banished Adam and to the prophets\, the great Archangel Gabriel appeared in the chamber of the All-holy Virgin.  This occurred\, as some Church writers have related\, precisely at the same moment that she held open the book of the Prophet Isaiah and was contemplating his great prophecy: Behold\, a virgin shall be with child\, and bear a son! (Isaiah 7:14). Gabriel appeared in all of his angelic brightness and saluted her: Rejoice\, thou that art highly favored\, the Lord is with thee! (Luke 1:28)\, and the rest\, as it is written in the Gospel of the blessed Luke. With this angelic annunciation and the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Virgin\, the salvation of mankind and the restoration of all creation began. The history of the New Testament was opened by the words of the Archangel Gabriel: Rejoice\, thou that art highly favored. This shows that the New Testament signified joy to mankind and to all created things. Therefore the Annunciation is considered not only a great feast but also a joyful feast. \n+++ \nБЛАГОВЕСТИ \nКада се Пресветој Дјеви наврши једанаест година пребивања и служења при храму Јерусалимском\, и четрнаест година од рођења – када\, дакле\, ступи у 15-ту годину живота\, саопштише јој свештеници\, да по закону она не може више остати при храму\, него треба да се обручи и ступи у брак. Но како велико изненађење за све свештенике би одговор Пресвете Дјеве\, да је се она посветила Богу и да жели остати девојком до смрти не ступајући ни с ким у брак! Тада по промислу и внушењу Божјем првосвештеник Захарија\, отац Претечев\, договорно са осталим свештеницима\, сабра дванаест безжених људи из племена Давидова\, да би једноме од њих уручили Дјеву Марију на чување девојаштва њеног и старање о њој. И би уручена староме Јосифу из Назарета\, који јој беше и сродник. У дому Јосифовом Пресвета Дјева продужи живети исто као и у храму Соломоновом\, проводећи време у читању Светог Писма\, у молитвама\, богоразмишљању\, посту и ручном раду. Готово никад из куће не излажаше\, нити се интересоваше светским стварима и догађајима. Мало је с ким уопште говорила\, и никад без нарочите потребе. Најчешће је у кући општила са двема кћерима Јосифовим. Но када се наврши време проречено Данилом пророком\, и када Бог благоволи испунити обећање своје изгнаном Адаму и пророцима\, јави се велики архангел Гаврил у одаји Пресвете Дјеве\, и то\, како неки свештени писци пишу\, у тренутку баш када је она држала отвореног пророка Исаију и размишљала о његовом великом пророчанству: Гле\, девојка ће зачети и родиће сина! (Ис. 7\, 14). Јави јој се Гаврил у светлости архангелској и рече јој: Радуј се\, благодатна! Господ је с тобом! и остало све редом како пише у Еванђељу божанственог Луке (Лк. 1\, 26-38). Са овом архангелском благовешћу\, и са силаском Духа Светога на Дјеву Пречисту\, отпочиње спасење људи и обновљење твари. Историју Новог Завета отворио је архангел Гаврил речју: Радуј се! да ознаменује тиме\, да Нови Завет има да значи радост за људе и за сву створену твар. Отуда и Благовест се сматра колико великим толико и радосним празником.

DESCRIPTION:THE ANNUNCIATION \nWhen the All-holy Virgin had completed the fourteenth year after her birth and was entering her fifteenth year\, after having spent eleven years of living and serving in the Temple of Jerusalem\, the priests informed her that\, according to the Law\, she could not remain in the Temple but was required to be betrothed and enter into marriage. To the great surprise of the priests\, the All-holy Virgin answered that she had dedicated her life to God and that she desired to remain a virgin until death\, not wanting to enter into marriage with anyone! Then according to God’s providence and inspiration\, Zacharias\, the high priest and father of the Forerunner\, in agreement with the other priests\, gathered twelve unmarried men from the tribe of David\, so that they might entrust the Virgin Mary to one of them to preserve her virginity and care for her. She was entrusted to Joseph of Nazareth\, who was her kinsman. In the house of Joseph\, the All-holy Virgin continued to live as she did in the Temple of Solomon\, occupying her time in the reading of sacred Scripture\, in prayer\, in godly thoughts\, in fasting\, and in handiwork. She rarely went anywhere outside the house and was uninterested in worldly matters and events. She spoke very little to anyone\, if at all\, and never without special need. She most often associated with Joseph’s two daughters. When the fullness of time had come\, as prophesied by Daniel the Prophet\, and when God was pleased to fulfill His promise to the banished Adam and to the prophets\, the great Archangel Gabriel appeared in the chamber of the All-holy Virgin.  This occurred\, as some Church writers have related\, precisely at the same moment that she held open the book of the Prophet Isaiah and was contemplating his great prophecy: Behold\, a virgin shall be with child\, and bear a son! (Isaiah 7:14). Gabriel appeared in all of his angelic brightness and saluted her: Rejoice\, thou that art highly favored\, the Lord is with thee! (Luke 1:28)\, and the rest\, as it is written in the Gospel of the blessed Luke. With this angelic annunciation and the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Virgin\, the salvation of mankind and the restoration of all creation began. The history of the New Testament was opened by the words of the Archangel Gabriel: Rejoice\, thou that art highly favored. This shows that the New Testament signified joy to mankind and to all created things. Therefore the Annunciation is considered not only a great feast but also a joyful feast. \n+++ \nБЛАГОВЕСТИ \nКада се Пресветој Дјеви наврши једанаест година пребивања и служења при храму Јерусалимском\, и четрнаест година од рођења – када\, дакле\, ступи у 15-ту годину живота\, саопштише јој свештеници\, да по закону она не може више остати при храму\, него треба да се обручи и ступи у брак. Но како велико изненађење за све свештенике би одговор Пресвете Дјеве\, да је се она посветила Богу и да жели остати девојком до смрти не ступајући ни с ким у брак!
