SUMMARY:Saints Sergius and Bacchus +++ Свети Сергије и Вакхо (Срђевдан)
DESCRIPTION:THE HOLY MARTYRS SERGIUS AND BACCHUS \nThese holy and wonderful martyrs and heroes of the Christian Faith were at first noblemen at the court of Emperor Maximian. The emperor himself esteemed them greatly because of their courage\, wisdom and fidelity. But when the emperor heard that his two noblemen were Christians\, his love for them turned into rage. Once\, when there was a great sacrificial offering to idols\, the emperor demanded that Sergius and Bacchus offer sacrifices with him\, but they openly refused to obey the emperor in this. Beside himself with rage\, the emperor commanded that their military garments\, rings and emblems be stripped from them and that they be dressed in women’s clothing. He then placed iron hoops around their necks and paraded them through the streets of the city of Rome\, to be mocked by everyone. Afterward\, he sent them to Antiochus\, his deputy in Asia\, for torture. Antiochus had risen to his position with Sergius and Bacchus’s help\, as they had at one time recommended him to the emperor. When Antiochus implored them to deny Christ and save themselves from dishonorable suffering and death\, these saints replied: “Both honor and dishonor\, both life and death–all are the same to him who seeks the Heavenly Kingdom.” Antiochus cast Sergius into prison and ordered that Bacchus be tortured first. His minions took turns beating the holy Bacchus until his whole body was broken. Bacchus’s holy soul departed his broken and bloodied body\, and in the hands of angels was borne to the Lord. St. Bacchus suffered in the town of Barbalissos. Then St. Sergius was led out and shod in iron shoes with inward-protruding nails. He was driven\, on foot\, to the town of Rozapha\, in Syria\, and was beheaded there with the sword. His soul went to Paradise where\, together with his friend Bacchus\, he received a crown of immortal glory from Christ\, his King and Lord. These two wondrous knights of the Christian Faith suffered in about the year 303 A.D. \n+++ \nСВЕТИ МУЧЕНИЦИ СЕРГИЈЕ И ВАКХО \nОви свети и дивни мученици и јунаци вере Христове беху најпре први великаши на двору цара Максимијана. И сам их цар уважаваше много због храбрости\, мудрости и верности. Али кад чу цар\, да су ова два великаша његова хришћани\, промени љубав своју према њима на гнев. И једном када беше велико жртвоприношење идолима цар позва Сергија и Вакха\, да заједно с њима жртве принесу\, али они отворено отказаше цару послушност у томе. Ван себе од јарости цар нареди\, те свукоше с њих војничко одело\, и прстење\, и одликовања\, и обукоше их у женске хаљине; још им метнуше гвоздене обруче о врат\, и тако их вођаху улицама града Рима на подсмех свима и свакоме. По том их посла цар у Азију\, своме намеснику Антиоху\, на истјазање. А овај Антиох беше се и дигао до тога положаја помоћу Сергија и Вакха\, који га у своје време препоручише цару. Када их Антиох поче саветовати\, да се одрекну Христа\, и да себе спасу бешчешћа мука и смрти\, одговорише ови светитељи: „и чест и бешчешће\, и живот и смрт – све је једно ономе ко иште царства небескога.“ Антиох баци Сергија у тамницу\, и нареди прво да се мучи Вакх. Слуге се мењаху један за другим тукући Вакха светога\, све док му цело тело не раздробише. Из раздробљеног и крвавог тела св. Вакха изађе душа његова света и на рукама ангелским оде Господу. Пострада св. Вакх у граду Варвалису. Тада Сергије свети би изведен\, и обувен у гвоздене опанке\, с начичканим ексерима\, па тако отеран у град Росаф у Сирију\, и тамо мачем посечен; и душа му оде у Рај\, да тамо заједно са Вакхом\, другом својим\, приме венце славе бесмртне од Христа Цара к Господа свога. Пострадаше ови красни витези вере Христове око 303. г.

DESCRIPTION:Holy Apostle and Evangelist Luke \nLuke was born in Antioch. In his youth\, he excelled in his studies of Greek philosophy\, medicine and art. During the ministry of the Lord Jesus on earth\, Luke came to Jerusalem\, where he saw the Savior face to face\, heard His saving teaching and was witness to His miraculous works. Coming to belief in the Lord\, St. Luke was numbered among the Seventy Apostles\, and was sent out to preach. With Cleopas\, he saw the resurrected Lord on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24). After the descent of the Holy Spirit\, Luke returned to Antioch and there became a fellow worker of the Apostle Paul and traveled to Rome with him\, converting Jews and pagans to the Christian Faith. Luke\, the beloved physician\, … greets you\, writes the Apostle Paul to the Colossians (Colossians 4:14). At the request of Christians\, he wrote his Gospel in about the year 60 A.D. Following the martyrdom of the great Apostle Paul\, St. Luke preached the Gospel throughout Italy\, Dalmatia\, Macedonia and other regions. He painted icons of the Most-holy Theotokos–not just one\, but three–and icons of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. Hence\, St. Luke is considered to be the founder of Christian iconography. In old age\, he visited Libya and Upper Egypt. From Egypt he returned to Greece\, where he continued to preach and convert many with great zeal despite his old age. In addition to his Gospel\, St. Luke wrote the Acts and dedicated both works to Theophilus\, the governor of Achaia. Luke was eighty-four years old when the wicked idolaters tortured him for the sake of Christ and hanged him from an olive tree in the town of Thebes\, in Boethia. The miracle-working relics of this wonderful saint were transported to Constantinople in the reign of Emperor Constantius\, the son of Constantine. \nSt. Petar of Cetinje \nPeter was born on April 1\, 1749 A.D.\, in the village of Njeguš. He entered the monastic order at the age of twelve. Following the death of Metropolitan Sava in 1782 A.D.\, Peter became the Metropolitan and ruler of Montenegro. This glorious man dedicated his entire holy life to his people. He worked with all his strength to reconcile the quarreling clans of Montenegro\, and strove mightily to defend the land and people from greedy aggressors. He succeeded in both tasks. He is especially glorified for his victory over Napoleon’s army in Boka and Dalmatia. He was very strict with himself\, and with everyone else he was just and condescending. Peter lived in a small cell like a simple monk even though he was a prince over the people. He reposed on October 18\, 1830 A.D. His miracle-working relics repose\, incorrupt\, in the Monastery of Cetinje. The Lord glorified him in the heavens and on earth as His faithful and long-suffering servant. \n+++ \nСв. Лука апостол и јеванђелист \nРодом из Антиохије. У младости изучио беше добро грчку филозофију\, медецину и живопис. У време делатности Господа Исуса на земљи св. Лука дође у Јерусалим\, где види Спаситеља лицем у лице\, чује Његову спасоносну науку и буде сведок чудесних дела Његових. Поверовавши у Господа св. Лука би увршћен у Седамдесет апостола и послат на проповед. Заједно са Клеопом видео васкрслог Господа на путу за Емаус (Лк. 24). По силаску Духа Светога на апостоле Лука се вратио у Антиохију\, и тамо је постао сатрудник апостола Павла\, с којим је путовао и у Рим\, обраћајући у веру Христову Јевреје и незнабошце. Поздравља вас Лука љекар љубазни\, пише Колошанима апостол Павле (Кол. 4\, 14). На молбу хришћана написао Јеванђеље\, око 60. године. По мученичкој смрти великог апостола Павла св. Лука је проповедао Јеванђеље по Италији\, Далмацији\, Македонији и другим странама. Живописао икону Пресвете Богородице\, – и то не једну него три\, а тако исто и иконе св. апостола Петра и Павла. Отуда се св. Лука сматра оснивачем хришћанског иконописа. Под старост посетио је Ливију и Горњи Мисир. Из Мисира се вратио у Грчку\, где је настављао с великом ревношћу проповедати и људе Христу обраћати\, без обзира на своју дубоку старост. Написао св. Лука Јеванђеље и Дела Апостолска\, и обоје посвети Теофилу кнезу Ахаје. Беше му 84 године\, када га злобни идолопоклоници ударише на муке Христа ради и обесише о једној маслини у граду Тиви (Теби) Беотијској. Мошти чудотворне овога дивнога светитеља беху пренесене у Цариград у време цара Констанција\, сина Константиновог. \n  \nСв. Петар Цетињски митрополит Црногорски \nРођен 1. априла 1749. год. у селу Његушу. Ступио у чин монашки у својој 12. години. По смрти митрополита Саве 1782. године Петар постаде митрополитом и господарем Црне Горе. Сав свој живот\, витешки и свети\, посветио је овај славни муж своме народу. Унутра је радио свом снагом да измири завађена племена\, а споља да одбрани земљу и народ од грабљивих нападача. Успео је и у једном и у другом послу. Прославио се нарочито победом над војском Наполеоновом у Боки и Далмацији. Према себи је био суров а према сваком другом праведан и снисходљив. Живео је у једној тескобној келији\, као прост монах\, и ако је био кнез над једним народом. Упокојио се 18. октобра 1830. год. Његове чудотворне мошти почивају нетљене у манастиру Цетињском. Господ га прослави на небесима и на земљи\, као верног и трпељивог слугу Свога.
