DESCRIPTION:Holy Apostle and Evangelist Luke \nLuke was born in Antioch. In his youth\, he excelled in his studies of Greek philosophy\, medicine and art. During the ministry of the Lord Jesus on earth\, Luke came to Jerusalem\, where he saw the Savior face to face\, heard His saving teaching and was witness to His miraculous works. Coming to belief in the Lord\, St. Luke was numbered among the Seventy Apostles\, and was sent out to preach. With Cleopas\, he saw the resurrected Lord on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24). After the descent of the Holy Spirit\, Luke returned to Antioch and there became a fellow worker of the Apostle Paul and traveled to Rome with him\, converting Jews and pagans to the Christian Faith. Luke\, the beloved physician\, … greets you\, writes the Apostle Paul to the Colossians (Colossians 4:14). At the request of Christians\, he wrote his Gospel in about the year 60 A.D. Following the martyrdom of the great Apostle Paul\, St. Luke preached the Gospel throughout Italy\, Dalmatia\, Macedonia and other regions. He painted icons of the Most-holy Theotokos–not just one\, but three–and icons of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. Hence\, St. Luke is considered to be the founder of Christian iconography. In old age\, he visited Libya and Upper Egypt. From Egypt he returned to Greece\, where he continued to preach and convert many with great zeal despite his old age. In addition to his Gospel\, St. Luke wrote the Acts and dedicated both works to Theophilus\, the governor of Achaia. Luke was eighty-four years old when the wicked idolaters tortured him for the sake of Christ and hanged him from an olive tree in the town of Thebes\, in Boethia. The miracle-working relics of this wonderful saint were transported to Constantinople in the reign of Emperor Constantius\, the son of Constantine. \nSt. Petar of Cetinje \nPeter was born on April 1\, 1749 A.D.\, in the village of Njeguš. He entered the monastic order at the age of twelve. Following the death of Metropolitan Sava in 1782 A.D.\, Peter became the Metropolitan and ruler of Montenegro. This glorious man dedicated his entire holy life to his people. He worked with all his strength to reconcile the quarreling clans of Montenegro\, and strove mightily to defend the land and people from greedy aggressors. He succeeded in both tasks. He is especially glorified for his victory over Napoleon’s army in Boka and Dalmatia. He was very strict with himself\, and with everyone else he was just and condescending. Peter lived in a small cell like a simple monk even though he was a prince over the people. He reposed on October 18\, 1830 A.D. His miracle-working relics repose\, incorrupt\, in the Monastery of Cetinje. The Lord glorified him in the heavens and on earth as His faithful and long-suffering servant. \n+++ \nСв. Лука дође у Јерусалим\, где види Спаситеља лицем у лице\, чује Његову спасоносну науку и буде сведок чудесних дела Његових. Поверовавши у Господа св. Лука би увршћен у Седамдесет апостола и послат на проповед. Заједно са Клеопом видео васкрслог Господа на путу за Емаус (Лк. 24). По силаску Духа Светога на апостоле Лука се вратио у Антиохију\, и тамо је постао сатрудник апостола Павла\, с којим је путовао и у Рим\, обраћајући у веру Христову Јевреје и незнабошце. Поздравља вас Лука љекар љубазни\, пише Колошанима апостол Павле (Кол. 4\, 14). На молбу хришћана написао Јеванђеље\, око 60. године. По мученичкој смрти великог апостола Павла св. Лука је проповедао Јеванђеље по Италији\, Далмацији\, Македонији и другим странама. Живописао икону Пресвете Богородице\, – и то не једну него три\, а тако исто и иконе св. апостола Петра и Павла. Отуда се св. Лука сматра оснивачем хришћанског иконописа. Под старост посетио је Ливију и Горњи Мисир. Из Мисира се вратио у Грчку\, где је настављао с великом ревношћу проповедати и људе Христу обраћати\, без обзира на своју дубоку старост. Написао св. Лука Јеванђеље и Дела Апостолска\, и обоје посвети Теофилу кнезу Ахаје. Беше му 84 године\, када га злобни идолопоклоници ударише на муке Христа ради и обесише о једној маслини у граду Тиви (Теби) Беотијској. Мошти чудотворне овога дивнога светитеља беху пренесене у Цариград у време цара Констанција\, сина Константиновог. \n  \nСв. Петар Цетињски митрополит Црногорски \nРођен 1. априла 1749. год. у селу Његушу. Ступио у чин монашки у својој 12. години. По смрти митрополита Саве 1782. године Петар постаде митрополитом и господарем Црне Горе. Сав свој живот\, витешки и свети\, посветио је овај славни муж своме народу. Унутра је радио свом снагом да измири завађена племена\, а споља да одбрани земљу и народ од грабљивих нападача. Успео је и у једном и у другом послу. Прославио се нарочито победом над војском Наполеоновом у Боки и Далмацији. Према себи је био суров а према сваком другом праведан и снисходљив. Живео је у једној тескобној келији\, као прост монах\, и ако је био кнез над једним народом. Упокојио се 18. октобра 1830. год. Његове чудотворне мошти почивају нетљене у манастиру Цетињском. Господ га прослави на небесима и на земљи\, као верног и трпељивог слугу Свога.

SUMMARY:Holy Great-martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica – Свети Великомученик Димитрије Солунски
DESCRIPTION:THE HOLY GREAT-MARTYR DEMETRIUS \nThis glorious and wonderworking saint was born in Thessalonica of noble and devout parents. Implored of God by childless parents\, Demetrius was their only son\, and so was raised and educated with great care. Demetrius’s father was a commander in Thessalonica. When his father died\, Emperor Maximian appointed Demetrius as commander in his place. As he appointed him\, Maximian\, an opponent of Christ\, particularly recommended that he persecute and exterminate the Christians in Thessalonica. Demetrius not only disobeyed the emperor but openly confessed and preached the Lord Jesus Christ in the city of Thessalonica. When the emperor heard of this he became furious with Demetrius. Then\, when he was returning from battle against the Sarmatians\, Maximian stopped at Thessalonica to investigate the matter. The emperor summoned Demetrius and questioned him about his faith. Demetrius openly acknowledged his Christian Faith to the emperor and also denounced the emperor’s idolatry. Maximian cast Demetrius into prison. Knowing what was awaiting him\, Demetrius gave all his goods to his faithful servant Lupus to distribute to the poor\, and joyfully awaited his imminent suffering for Christ the Lord. An angel of God appeared to him in prison\, saying: “Peace be to you\, O sufferer of Christ; be brave and be strong!” After several days\, the emperor sent soldiers to the prison to kill Demetrius. The soldiers found the saint of God at prayer and ran him through with lances. Christians secretly took his body and honorably buried it. Healing myrrh flowed from the body of the martyr of Christ\, curing many of the sick. Soon\, a small church was built over his relics. \nAn Illyrian nobleman\, Leontius\, was afflicted with an incurable illness. He hastened\, with prayer\, to the relics of St. Demetrius and was completely healed. In thanksgiving\, Leontius erected a much larger church on the site of the old church. The saint appeared to him on two occasions. When Emperor Justinian wanted to translate the relics of the saint from Thessalonica to Constantinople\, flaming sparks sprang from the tomb and a voice was heard: “Stop\, and do not touch!” And thus\, the relics of St. Demetrius have remained for all time in Thessalonica. As the protector of Thessalonica\, St. Demetrius has appeared many times\, and on many occasions has saved Thessalonica from great calamity. His miracles are without number. The Russians considered St. Demetrius to be the protector of Siberia\, which was conquered and annexed to Russia on October 26\, 1581 A.D. \n  \nTHE COMMERATION OF THE GREAT EARTHQUAKE OF CONSTANTINOPLE \nIn the year 740 A.D.\, during the reign of Emperor Leo the Isaurian\, there was a terrifying and prolonged earthquake in Constantinople. The people considered this a punishment from God for their sins\, and prayed with great repentance to the Most-holy Theotokos and St. Demetrius\, until God showed mercy and the earthquake ceased. \n  \n+++ \n  \nСВЕТИ ВЕЛИКОМУЧЕНИК ДИМИТРИЈЕ СОЛУНСКИ ЧУДОТВОРАЦ \n  \nОвај славни и чудотворни светитељ роди се у граду Солуну од родитеља благородних и благочестивих. Измољен од Бога од бездетних родитеља Димитрије беше јединац син њихов\, због чега би с великом пажњом однегован и васпитан. Његов отац беше војвода Солунски; па кад му отац умре\, цар постави Димитрија за војводу на место оца. Поставивши га за војводу христоборни цар Максимијан нарочито му препоручи да гони и истребљује хришћане у Солуну. Но Димитрије не само не послуша цара него\, напротив\, јавно исповедаше и проповедаше Христа Господа у граду Солуну. Чувши то цар веома се огорчи на Димитрија\, па када се једном враћаше из рата против Сармата\, цар Максимијан сврати у Солун нарочито\, да ствар испита. Призва\, дакле\, цар Димитрија војводу и испитиваше га о вери. Димитрије јавно пред царем призна да је хришћанин\, и уз то још изобличи царево идолопоклонство. Разјарени цар баци Димитрија у тамницу. Знајући шта га чека Димитрије уручи све своје имање своме верноме послушнику Лупу\, да разда сиротињи\, и оде у тамницу весео\, што му предстојаше страдање за Христа Господа. У тамници му се јави ангел божји и рече му: „мир ти\, страдалче Христов\, мужај се и крепи се!“ После неколико дана посла цар војнике у тамницу да убију Димитрија. Војници нађоше светитеља Божјег на молитви\, и избодоше га копљем. Тело његово узеше хришћани потајно и сахранише чесно. Из тела страдалца Христова потече целебно миро\, којим се многи болесници излечише. Ускоро над моштима би подигнута мала црква. Неки велмож Илирски Леонтије бејаше болестан од неизлечиве болести. Он притече моштима св. Димитрија с молитвом\, и би потпуно исцељен. Из благодарности подиже Леонтије много већу цркву на место старе. Светитељ му се јави у два маха. Када цар Јустинијан хтеде пренети мошти светитељеве из Солуна у Цариград\, искочише пламене искре од гроба и чу се глас: „станите\, и не дирајте!“ И тако мошти св. Димитрија осташе заувек у Солуну. Као заштитник Солуна св. Димитрије много се пута јављао и много пута спасао Солун од велике беде. Чудесима његовим броја нема. Св. Димитрија сматрају Руси покровитељем Сибира\, који је освојен и Русији присвојен 26. октобра 1581. год. \n  \nСПОМЕН ВЕЛИКОГ ЗЕМЉОТРЕСА \n  \nУ време цара Лава Исаврјанина би страховит и дуготрајан земљотрес у Цариграду 740. год. Народ схвати то као казну Божју за грехе\, и мољаше се Пресветој Богородици и св. Димитрију с великим покајањем\, док се Бог не смилова и земљотрес не преста.

DESCRIPTION:SAINTS COSMAS AND DAMIAN \nCosmas and Damian were unmercenaries and miracle-workers. They were brothers both in the flesh and in the spirit\, born somewhere in Asia Minor of a pagan father and a Christian mother. After their father’s death\, their mother Theodotia devoted all her time and effort to educating her sons and raising them as true Christians. God helped her\, and her sons matured as sweet fruit and luminaries of the world. They were learned in the art of medicine and ministered to the sick without payment\, not so much with medicine as by the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. They were called “unmercenary physicians\,” that is\, unpaid physicians\, for they healed freely and thus fulfilled the commandment of Christ: Freely ye have received\, freely give (Matthew 10:8). So careful were they in healing men free of charge that Cosmas became very angry with his brother Damian because he accepted three eggs from a woman\, Palladia\, and ordered that he not be buried alongside his brother Damian after his death. In fact\, St. Damian did not accept these three eggs as a reward for healing the ailing Palladia\, but rather because she adjured him in the name of the Most-holy Trinity to accept these three eggs. Nevertheless\, after their death in the town of Fereman\, they were buried together according to a revelation from God. The holy brothers were great miracle-workers both during their life and after their death. A snake crawled through the mouth and into the stomach of a certain farm laborer during his sleep\, and the unfortunate man would have died in the greatest pain had he not\, in the last moment\, invoked the help of Saints Cosmas and Damian. Thus\, the Lord glorified forever the miracle-working of those who glorified Him on earth by their faith\, purity and mercy. \n+++ \nСВЕТИ КОЗМА И ДАМЈАН \nБесребреници и чудотворци. Браћа по телу и по духу\, родом негде из Азије\, од оца незнабошца и мајке хришћанке. По смрти оца њихова мајка\, Теодотија\, посвети све време и труд\, да синове своје васпита и подигне као истините хришћане. И Бог јој поможе\, те синови њени израстоше као две слатке воћке\, и као два светилника света. Беху научени лекарској вештини\, и бесплатно помагаху болесним\, не толико лекаријама\, колико именом Господа Исуса Христа. И беху прозвати безмездним врачима\, тј. бесплатним лекарима\, јер бесплатно лечише и тако испунише Христову заповест: бадава примисте\, бадава дајите (Мат. 10\, 8). Толико беху опрезни у бесплатном лечењу људи\, да се Козма истински наљути на брата свог Дамјана\, што овај узе три јајца од неке жене Паладије\, и нареди Козма\, да после смрти његове не сахране га до брата му Дамјана. У ствари Дамјан свети не узе та три јајца као награду за то што он исцели болесну Паладију\, него што га ова закле Пресветом Тројицом\, да узме та три јајца. Ипак по смрти њиховој\, у месту Фереману\, беху заједно сахрањени сходно откровењу Божјем. Беху ова браћа света чудотворци велики и за живота и после смрти. Некоме тежаку при спавању увуче се змија кроз уста у стомак\, и имаше бедни човек у највећим мукама издахнути\, да у последњем часу не призва у помоћ св. Козму и Дамјана. И тако прослави Господ за увек чудотворством оне који Њега прославише на земљи вером\, чистотом и милошћу.

DESCRIPTION:THE HOLY GREAT-MARTYR GEORGE \nOn this day we commemorate the translation of the relics of St. George\, from Nicomedia\, where he suffered at the time of Emperor Diocletian\, to the city of Lydda in Palestine. The suffering of this wonderful saint is described on April 23. Anticipating his martyrdom\, St. George begged his servant to take his relics to Palestine\, where his mother had been born\, and where he had distributed his large estate to the poor. The servant did so. During the reign of Emperor Constantine\, pious Christians built a beautiful church to St. George in Lydda and\, upon the consecration of that church\, the relics of the saint were interred there. Innumerable miracles have occurred from these miracle-working relics of St. George\, the great-martyr of Christ. \n+++ \n  \nСВЕТИ ВЕЛИКОМУЧЕНИК ГЕОРГИЈЕ – ЂУРЂИЦ \n  \nОвога дана празнује се пренос моштију св. Георгија из Никомидије у град Лиду Палестинску\, где пострада у време цара Диоклецијана. Страдање овога дивног светитеља описано је под 23. априлом. Пред смрт своју умоли св. Георгије слугу свога\, да му узме тело по смрти и пренесе у Палестину\, одакле му и мајка родом беше\, и где имаше велико имање\, које раздаде сиромасима. Слуга тако и учини. У време цара Константина буде сазидан у Лиди красан храм св. Георгија од стране побожних хришћана\, па приликом освећења тога храма пренесу се у њ мошти светитељеве\, и ту сахране. Безбројна чудеса догодила су се од чудотворних моштију св. Георгија\, великомученика Христова.

DESCRIPTION:THE HOLY ARCHANGEL MICHAEL AND ALL THE BODILESS POWERS OF HEAVEN \nThe angels of God were celebrated by men from earliest times but this celebration was often turned into the divinization of angels (II Kings 23:5). The heretics wove all sorts of fables concerning the angels. Some of them looked upon angels as gods; others\, although they did not consider them gods\, called them the creators of the whole visible world. The local Council of Laodicea (four or five years before the First Ecumenical Council) rejected the worship of angels as gods and established the proper veneration of angels in its Thirty-fifth Canon. In the fourth century\, during the time of Sylvester\, Pope of Rome\, and Alexander\, Patriarch of Alexandria\, the present Feast of Archangel Michael and all the other heavenly powers was instituted for celebration in the month of November. Why precisely in November? Because November is the ninth month after March\, and March is considered to be the month in which the world was created. Also\, as the ninth month after March\, November was chosen for the nine orders of angels who were created first. St. Dionysius the Areopagite\, a disciple of the Apostle Paul (who was taken up into the third heaven)\, described these nine orders of angels in his book\, On the Celestial Hierarchies\, as follows: six-winged Seraphim\, many-eyed Cherubim\, God-bearing Thrones\, Dominions\, Powers\, Virtues\, Principalities\, Archangels\, and Angels. The leader of all the angelic hosts is the Archangel Michael. When Satan\, Lucifer\, fell away from God and drew a part of the angels with him to destruction\, then Michael stood up and cried out before the faithful angels: “Let us attend! Let us stand aright! Let us stand with fear!” and all of the faithful angelic heavenly hosts cried out: “Holy! Holy! Holy! Lord God of Sabaoth! Heaven and earth are full of Thy glory!” Concerning the Archangel Michael\, see Joshua 5:13-15 and Jude 1:9. Among the angels there reign perfect oneness of mind\, oneness of soul\, and love. The lower orders also show complete obedience to the higher orders\, and all of them together to the holy will of God. Every nation has its guardian angel\, as does every Christian. We must always remember that whatever we do\, in open or in secret\, we do in the presence of our guardian angel. On the day of the Dread Judgment\, the multitude of the hosts of the holy angels of heaven will gather around the throne of Christ\, and the deeds\, words\, and thoughts of every man will be revealed before all. May God have mercy on us and save us by the prayers of the Archangel Michael and all the bodiless heavenly powers. Amen. \n+++ \nСВЕТИ АРХИСТРАТИГ МИХАИЛ И ОСТАЛЕ СИЛЕ НЕБЕСНЕ БЕЗТЕЛЕСНЕ \nАнгели Божји били су празновани од људи још из дубоке старине. Но то празновање често се изметало у обожавање ангела (IV Цар. 23\, 5). Јеретици су свашта баснословили о ангелима. Неки су од тих гледали у ангелима богове; други и ако их не сматраху боговима називаху створитељима васцелог видљивог света. Лаодикајски помесни сабор\, који беше на 4 или 5 година пре I Васељенског Сабора\, својим 35. правилом одбаци поклоњење ангелима као боговима и установи правилно поштовање ангела. У време пак Силвестра папе римског и Александра патријарха александријског (из IV в.) би установљен овај празник Архистратига Михаила и прочих Сила небесних у месецу Новембру. Зашто баш у Новембру? Зато што Новембар представља девети месец после месеца Марта. У месецу Марту сматра се да је било створење света. А девети месец после Марта узет је због 9 чинова ангелских\, који су најпре створени. Св. Дионисије Ареопагит\, ученик апостола Павла\, онога апостола\, који се уздигао до у треће небо\, описао је ових 9 чинова у књизи „О небесној Јерархији“. Ти чинови су следећи: шестокрили Серафими\, многоочити Херувими и богоносни Престоли\, Господства\, Силе и Власти\, Начала\, Архангели и Ангели. Војвода целе војске ангелске јесте архистратиг Михаил. Када је сатана\, Луцифер\, отпао од Бога\, и повукао собом у пропаст један део ангела\, тада је Михаил устао и узвикнуо пред неотпалим ангелима: вонмемъ! станемъ добрэ\, станемъ со страхомъ! И све небесне војске верних ангела громовито су запојале: свјат\, свјат\, свјат Господ Саваотъ исполнъ небо и земля славы твојеја! (Види о архангелу Михаилу Ис. Навина 5\, 13-15; св. Јуде 9.) Међу ангелима влада савршено једномислије\, једнодушност и љубав\, а уз то још и потпуна послушност нижих чинова вишим чиновима\, и свих укупно светој вољи Божјој. Сваки народ има свога ангела хранитеља\, а осим тога и сваки хришћанин има свога ангела хранитеља. Треба се увек сећати да ма шта ми чинили\, јавно или тајно\, чинимо у присуству свога ангела хранитеља. А на дан Страшнога Суда сабраће се све огромно мноштво ангела небесних светих око престола Христова\, и пред свима њима објавиће се дела\, речи и помисли свакога човека. Нека би нас Бог помиловао и спасао молитвама св. архистратига Михаила и прочих небесних сила безтелесних. Амин.

DESCRIPTION:THE HOLY MARTYR STEFAN OF DEČANI\, KING OF SERBIA \nStefan was the son of King Milutin and father of Tsar Dušan.  By the command of his ill-informed father\, Stefan was blinded\, and at the command of his capricious son (Dušan)\, was strangled in his old age. When he was blinded\, St. Nicholas appeared to him in the church at Ovče Polje (Field of the Sheep) and showed him his eyes saying: “Stefan\, be not afraid: behold your eyes in my palm. In due time\, I will return them to you.” Stefan spent five years in Constantinople as a prisoner in the Monastery of the Pantocrator. By his wisdom and asceticism\, his meekness and piety\, his patience and benevolence\, Stefan not only surpassed all the monks in his monastery\, but all monks in Constantinople. When five years had passed\, St. Nicholas again appeared to him and said: “I came to fulfill my promise.” He then traced the sign of the Cross on the blind king\, and Stefan received his sight. In thanksgiving to God\, Stefan built the Church of Dečani\, one of the most marvelous works of Byzantine artistic beauty\, and one of the most famous monuments of Serbian piety. The holy King Stefan\, with St. Sava and the holy Prince Lazar\, constitute a most glorious trinity of holiness\, nobility and self-sacrifice–the gift of the Serbian people. St. Stefan lived his earthly life as a martyr\, and died as a martyr in the year 1336 A.D.\, receiving the wreath of immortal glory from the Almighty God Whom he had faithfully served. \n+++ \nСВЕТИ МУЧЕНИК СТЕФАН ДЕЧАНСКИ КРАЉ СРПСКИ \nСин краља Милутина и отац цара Душана. По наређењу необавештеног оца био ослепљен\, а по наређењу лакомисленог сина био у старости удављен. При ослепљењу јавио му се св. Никола у храму на Овчем пољу\, и показао му његове очи рекавши: „Стефане\, не бој се\, ево твојих очију на моме длану\, у своје време ја ћу ти их вратити“. Пет година провео у Цариграду као заточеник у манастиру Сведржитеља (Пантократора). Својом мудрошћу и подвигом\, кротошћу и благочешћем\, трпељивошћу и благодушношћу превасходио је Стефан не само све монахе у манастиру него и сав Цариград. Када се наврши 5 година јави му се опет св. Никола и рече му: „дошао сам да испуним своје обећање“. И осени слепог краља крсним знамењем\, и краљ прогледа. Из благодарности Богу саградио храм Дечански\, једно од ретко дивних дела византијске уметности и један од најзнаменитијих споменика негдашњег српског благочешћа. Св. краљ Стефан са св. Савом и св. кнезом Лазаром чини једну прекрасну триаду од светости\, благородства и самопожртвовања\, које је народ српски дао. Као мученик проживео свој земни век\, и као мученик скончао 1336. год.\, примивши венац бесмртне славе од Сведржитеља\, коме је верно послужио.

DESCRIPTION:SAINT JOHN CHRYSOSTOM\, PATRIARCH OF CONSTANTINOPLE \nJohn was born in Antioch in the year 354 A.D. His father\, Secundus\, was an imperial commander and his mother’s name was Anthusa. Studying Greek philosophy\, John became disgusted with Hellenic paganism and adopted the Christian Faith as the one and all-embracing truth. Meletius\, Patriarch of Antioch\, baptized John\, and his parents also subsequently received baptism. Following his parents’ repose\, John was tonsured a monk and lived a strict life of asceticism. He then wrote a book\, On the Priesthood\, after which the Holy Apostles John and Peter appeared to him\, and prophesied that he would have a life of great service\, great grace and great suffering. When he was to be ordained a priest\, an angel of God appeared simultaneously to John and to Patriarch Flavian (Meletius’s successor). While the patriarch was ordaining John\, a shining white dove was seen hovering over John’s head. Glorified for his wisdom\, asceticism and power of words\, John was chosen as Patriarch of Constantinople at the behest of Emperor Arcadius. As patriarch\, he governed the Church for six years with unequalled zeal and wisdom. He sent missionaries to the pagan Celts and Scythians and eradicated simony in the Church\, deposing many bishops guilty of this vice. He extended the charitable works of the Church and wrote a special order of the Divine Liturgy. He shamed the heretics\, denounced Empress Eudoxia\, interpreted Holy Scripture with his golden mind and tongue\, and bequeathed the Church many precious books of his homilies. The people glorified him\, the envious loathed him\, and the Empress\, on two occasions\, sent him into exile. John spent three years in exile\, and reposed as an exile on the Feast of the Elevation of the Precious and Life-giving Cross\, September 14\, 407 A.D.\, in the town of Comana in Georgia. Before his repose\, the Holy Apostles John and Peter appeared to him again\, as did the Holy Martyr Basiliscus (May 22) in whose church he received Communion for the last time. His last words were\, “Glory be to God for all things\,” and with that\, the soul of the golden-mouthed patriarch was taken into Paradise. Chrysostom’s head reposes in the Church of the Dormition in Moscow\, and his body reposes in the Vatican in Rome. \n+++ \nСВЕТИ ЈОВАН ЗЛАТОУСТИ \nПатријарх Цариградски. Рођен у Антиохији 354. год. од оца Секунда војводе и матере Антусе. Учећи грчку филозофију Јован се згнуша на грчко незнабоштво и усвоји веру хришћанску као једину и свецелу истину. Би Јован крштен од Мелетија патријарха Антиохијског\, а по том и његови родитељи примише крштење. По смрти родитеља замонаши се Јован и поче се строго подвизавати. Тада написа књигу „О свештенству“\, и тада му се јавише св. апостоли Јован и Петар проричући му велику службу\, велику благодат али и велико страдање. Када је требао бити посвећен за свештеника јави се ангел Божји истовремено и патријарху Флавијану (после Мелетија) и самом Јовану. А када га патријарх рукополагаше\, видеше сви бела светла голуба над главом Јовановом. Прослављен због мудрости\, подвига и силе речи\, би Јован изабран\, по жељи цара Аркадија\, за патријарха Цариградског. Шест година управљаше црквом као патријарх са несравњивом ревношћу и мудрошћу. Посла мисионаре незнабожачким Келтима и Скитима; сузби симонију у цркви збацивши многе епископе – симонисте; рашири милосрдну делатност цркве; написа нарочити чин свете Литургије; постиди јеретике; изобличи царицу Евдоксију; растумачи Свето Писмо својим златним умом и језиком\, и остави цркви многе драгоцене књиге својих беседа. Народ га прослави\, завидљивци га омрзоше\, царица га два пут посла у изгнанство. У изгнанству проведе 3 године\, и сконча на Крстов дан 14. септембра 407. год. у месту Коману у Јерменији. Пред смрт опет му се јавише св. Апостоли Јован и Петар\, као и св. муч. Василиск (22. маја)\, у чијој цркви прими последње причешће. „Слава Богу за све!“ беху његове последње речи\, и с тим речима душа се златоустог патријарха пренесе у Рај. Од моштију Златоустових глава му почива у Успенском храму у Москви\, а тело у Ватикану у Риму.
