How to Help your Church?

every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful” – John 15:2

In the Serbian Orthodox faith, we understand the importance of giving and how it expresses our gratitude to God for the many blessings He has given to us.

Currently, we do not receive enough donations to pay all the bills.  Please consider signing up for monthly donations to keep our Church going and growing!  You can also contribute through stocks, QCDs, or even donating your old car.  Details are listed below or you can contact Treasurer@SvLuka.org.

We have several fundraising activities throughout the year to support our parish such as SerbFest each Spring and Fall, Easter Bake Sale, DC Zurka and more.  Your attendance at these events is also a gift!  We are always looking for volunteers to make each event a success.  To learn about more ways to give of your time, click here.

Volunteering at St. Luke Serbian Orthodox Church is a meaningful way to give back, grow in faith, and strengthen our community. Every act of service – whether helping during liturgy, supporting events, teaching in the Serbian School, or assisting with maintenance – contributes to the life and mission of our church. It is through these shared efforts that we preserve our traditions, support one another, and create a welcoming environment for all.

We invite parishioners of all ages and talents to get involved. Whether you can offer a few hours occasionally or commit to a regular role, your time and skills make a lasting difference. Volunteering is not only an opportunity to serve, but also to build friendships, deepen connections, and take an active part in the future of our church.

Sunday Luncheons

Every Sunday we continue the Liturgy with the “Agape” (meal of love). The Agape really helps our community stay close together and grow stronger.

If you’d like to sponsor a Sunday Luncheon or find out more please click here.

We need a lot of volunteers before and during SerbFest.

Positions that require prior training or supervision:

  • Gibanica / zeljanica preparation (done before SerbFest and frozen)
  • Bread / lepinje preparation (baked and frozen before Fest)
  • Lamp / pigs preparation, cooking and cutting
  • Cevapi preparation and cooking

Positions that require less training and supervision:

  • Tents and tables setup and break down
  • Food preparation: washing, slicing…
  • Selling drinks
  • Cleaning (washing dishes, clearing tables of leftovers, emptying trash bins constantly, picking up trash from the grass, cleaning bathrooms) – currently we pay service for this ~$3,000 / per SerbFest

We could really use a marketing,  advertising and sponsorship coordinator – spreading word and having more people attend would mean more profit. Also soliciting sponsorship (for example: flower, charcoal, oil, meat etc.) would cut down our costs.

Lastly, a volunteer coordinator would help us greatly make sure we have all the volunteer positions staffed with the right people.

Please contact us (Info@SvLuka.org ) and let us know where you could help.

This great initiative was started in 2025 and it’s been bringing about $3,000 in profit each month!

You can buy:

  • kiseli kupus (sauerkraut)
  • home made sweets
  • home made pies (meat, potatoes…)
  • ajvar
  • plazma keks
  • organic apples
  • organic honey
  • etc.

All of this is sold every Sunday and we need more helpers to help run the store! As importantly, we need helpers to donate home made sweets and anything else you can help with.

Please email us (Info@SvLuka.org ) to get in touch about specifics.
